Esporta, the UK’s leading health and fitness club operator, has announced the opening of its new £12m 16,500 sq metre club in Norfolk on 1st July.
At the heart of the Norfolk Health & Racquets club will be a six court indoor tennis complex, including two US OPEN standard courts. This, combined with four outdoor courts, will see the Norfolk Health & Racquets club become one of the premium racquets centres in Norfolk and a key part of Esporta’s Racquets Academy network.
The Academy is a network of 18 Esporta clubs across the UK which attract and nurture the brightest young tennis talent. Already 3,500 kids are signed up to the academy and the ambition is that Esporta Norfolk will, in time, become one of the leading centres in the Racquets fold (1).
The new club will also boast an indoor 25m swimming pool and a 20m heated outdoor pool. There will also be a children’s pool, a spa with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, two aerobic studios, a Revolution (2) spinning studio and of course a large gym equipped with the very latest cardio-vascular and resistance technology. Other facilities include a brasserie, a café terrace and ample car parking.
“Norwich Esporta will be simply the best health and fitness club in East Anglia,” said Chris Gilbert, general manager. “We have invested heavily in the site and I am sure it will rapidly become one of our crown jewels.”

1) At the top of the Esporta Racquets Club pyramid is the Riverside Chiswick where the head coach is Carl Maes, the coach who guided Kim Clijsters to world no.1 status in the WTA rankings.
2) Revolution is a new concept in exercise classes which applies a virtual reality environment to the latest technology in spinning bikes to provide a cycling experience where participants can choose how and where they ride – without leaving the club.
