New Water Aerobics Concept Launches At Chiswick Riverside

Date: 17 Sep, 2004

The Riverside club in Duke's Meadows, Chiswick, is launching a new exercise concept on 17 September, Hydro-Tone.  The first to feature the class in the UK, Hydro-Tone is the latest craze from the USA and is sure to hit the areas that other exercises simply can't.

Now for the bad news.  You really won't look like a style guru once you have donned the Hydro-Tone plastic boots and hand-weights, but once in the pool with fellow exercisers who cares!

Hydro-Tone is a form of aqua aerobics which uses hand held Hydro-Bells and foot worn Hydro-Boots.  The exercise offers three-dimensional resistance which improves muscle tone, cardiovascular strength and endurance.  It stimulates and stretches muscle groups as no other exercise can; it is also low impact and has been proven to be very effective for sports injuries.  National football teams have been using it to aid recovery, Arsenal in particular.

Amanda Boardman, studio coordinator at Riverside comments: "Hydro-Tone is a far more effectives work-out than doing either endless lengths of the pool or a conventional aqua-aerobics class using old fashioned equipment made from polystyrene."

The Hydro-Tone boots and hand-weights have been developed by sports scientists and are made from a durable, hard, but extremely light plastic.  Both have specially positioned vents that allow water to flow through them rather than around them as you perform the exercises.  The more effort someone applies, the greater the resistance the vents provide.
