Esporta's prestigious Riverside Health and Racquets Club in Chiswick re-opens this spring after a fire that destroyed many of the original buildings forced it to close two years ago. The superb 155,000 sq ft facility will boast an additional 25,000 sq ft of internal space, as well as enhancements to its tennis courts, gym, pools and spa.
The new club has 15 covered tennis courts - three courtesy of a new all-weather winter bubble - enabling it to retain its position as one of the largest private tennis clubs in the country. The Riverside has long been one of the UK's premier tennis facilities: it was the first commercial facility in the UK to be awarded high performance status by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and has attracted high profile tennis members.
Swimming has always been a key feature of the Riverside Club, with a well established Swim School. The new club will have an additional 25m outdoor heated pool with an integrated 8m children's pool, situated in a landscaped outdoor patio, with a dedicated bar area for the summer months. The indoor lane pool has been extended to 25m x 10m, together with a leisure pool and under 4's paddling pool.
The 10,000 sq ft fitness area is located on the second floor of the club with superb views over the tennis courts. With its innovative zoned layout and extensive range of new equipment from Life Fitness and other leading branded products including PowerPlates®, Nautilus® TreadClimbers®, VO2 testing, and Pilates and Keiser® spin studios, the gym will become a significant feature of the new club.
The biggest step forward for the club in terms of design and layout is the stunning new spa area, will also operate as an independent day spa. Features include seven treatments rooms, all with walk-in showers, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, manicure and pedicure stations, a spray tan room and a luxurious new hydrotherapy pool measuring 10m x 8m.
A Sports Therapy unit, with five treatment rooms and its own reception area, will offer a wide array of alternative treatments for both members and the general public.
In keeping with the premium feel of the club, the restaurant has been re-designed with a new adult dining area offering an a la carte menu and table service. Other features include a separate family dinning area and internet lounge, and a stylish function and cinema room, which can seat 80 people and has its own bar and dedicated service kitchen.
As before, the club will offer an extensive range of activities for its younger members, including after-school clubs ranging from karate to ballet. The new children's area will be run by Esporta's specialist team in a dedicated area of the club with its own reception area and entrance.
Commenting on the reopening of the Riverside Club, Esporta's Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Timms says: "We are delighted with this superb new club which reinforces Esporta's position as the UK leader in the premium sector of the industry. Throughout its 20 year history, the Riverside Club has been known for its exceptional offering, and we look forward to welcoming both existing and new members to this outstanding facility."
The Riverside Club at Chiswick will be the second Esporta club to launch this year, following the newly-built Gloucestershire Health and Racquets Club, which opened its doors to members on 14 January, 2008.
