Duke Street backed premium health club operator Esporta has reported excellent results for its first half year to the end of June 2004.
With the number of new joiners at its racquets clubs up 18% on last year, Esporta has also reduced attrition rates by 6% on a like for like basis. This has resulted in a net gain of 14,000 additional members between January and June.
Peter Taylor, chief executive of Duke Street said: "Esporta is delivering strong results in a sector which has seen a downturn over the past two years. This proves that the new direction being driven by Neil Gillis and his team is reaping good results particularly when compared to some of the other operators in the sector.
"Esporta is presenting strong investment plans and is looking to expand its club base over the next year. The business is in good shape for both acquisitions and new developments."
